The Umoja Community received a 2009 Chancellor’s Student Success Award – Honorable Mention – at the January 2010 Board of Governors meeting. The Chancellor’s Student Success Award was established in 2004 as the Student Equity Award. The awards have been presented annually to honor community college programs that demonstrate a commitment to success for all students and that have found ways to improve access, retention, course completion, degree and certificate completion and transfer. The 2009 Chancellor’s Student Success awards are supported through the Foundation for California Community Colleges. Dr. Teresa Aldredge accepted the award on behalf of the Umoja Community at the January 11, 2010 Board of Governors meeting.
