THE UMOJA COMMUNITY SELECTS TWO SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
FOR 2011

Two scholarships have been awarded for the 2011-2012 academic year. The first was an academic scholarship for a student who will transfer to a four year university for fall 2011.  The second award is a partial scholarship to be applied toward the cost of attending a tour of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Garcel Zardes was awarded the transfer scholarship.  He has completed his Associate of Science degree at El Camino College and has been accepted into Cal Poly Pomona as a Civil Engineering major.  Garcel is still waiting to hear from his first choice which is the University of Southern California.

Miceal Thomas, a Sociology major at Los Medanos College was selected as the recipient of the partial scholarship to participate on the Black College tour.   Miceal was one of the first students to complete a Transfer Admissions Guarantee agreement between Los Mendoes and Clark Atlanta University.

Congratulations to both young men!
